Open-source document management, managed
Your documents shouldn't live in someone else's cloud
We started PaperCask because document management is either a per-user SaaS that holds your archive hostage, or a self-hosted stack with an OCR pipeline nobody wants to babysit. We run the open-source tools for you, on German servers, at a flat price.
Our mission
Your business documents should be searchable, archived where the law requires, and yours to export whenever you want. No per-user bill that grows every time you hire. That's it.
Built for reliability
Runs on dedicated bare-metal servers in Germany. Your archive never leaves the EU.
Dedicated Infrastructure
Nuremberg + Falkenstein, Germany.
Encryption
TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest
Backups
Daily, encrypted, 30-day retention
Tenant isolation
Dedicated containers per customer
What we believe
Transparency
Every tool we host is open source: Paperless-ngx (GPL-3.0), Docuseal (AGPL-3.0), Stirling-PDF (MIT), and Mayan EDMS (GPL-2.0). You can audit the code, export your entire archive, and move to another host or self-host anytime. No proprietary format, no lock-in.
Data sovereignty
Your archive holds invoices, contracts, HR files, and correspondence. Much of it is personal data, much of it legally retained. It stays on dedicated infrastructure in Germany with full tenant isolation. DPA available on request.
Simplicity
You should be filing and finding documents, not debugging an OCR pipeline or coordinating database migrations. We handle provisioning, updates, backups, and monitoring. You handle the documents.
Fair pricing
Per-user document tools scale fast. At 10 users you pay one bill; at 50 it has multiplied, even though the archive is the same. We charge a flat monthly fee per instance. Add as many users as your plan allows: the price doesn't move.
